What to Expect During Your Craniosacral Therapy Session
Your first session will begin with a brief consultation where your therapist will ask about your medical history, current concerns, and specific areas of tension or discomfort. This information helps tailor the treatment to your unique needs.
CST is typically performed in a calm and quiet environment. You will lie down fully clothed on a comfortable treatment table, allowing you to relax completely.
Loose-fitting shirts, yoga pants, or comfortable shorts are ideal choices that won’t restrict your movement. Try to stay away from wearing jeans, belts and tight or restrictive clothing.
The therapist will use a light touch, usually no more than the weight of a nickel, to feel for restrictions and imbalances in the craniosacral system. Techniques may include gentle pressure, stretching, or holding specific areas.
Throughout the session, you may be encouraged to focus on your breath and tune into your body. This awareness enhances the healing process, allowing you to notice any sensations or changes as the therapist works.
After your session, you may feel deeply relaxed and at ease. Some clients experience immediate relief, while others notice gradual improvements in the days following. It’s common to feel a sense of emotional release or clarity. Drinking plenty of water post-treatment helps flush toxins and support healing.
